Dry Eye and Periocular Rejuvenation

What is Dry Eye?

Dry Eye is a common condition that happens when your eyes don’t produce enough tears, or when the tears they do make are of poor quality. Healthy tears are essential — they keep the eye surface smooth, comfortable, and protected. When the tear film becomes unstable, the result can be irritation, blurred vision, and a feeling of dryness, grittiness, or burning.

Dry Eye can develop for many reasons, including:

  • Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD): Blocked or underactive oil glands in the eyelids.
  • Blepharitis: Inflammation of the eyelid margins, often linked with bacteria or skin conditions.
  • Demodex mites: Tiny organisms that can infest the eyelashes and cause inflammation.
  • Ageing and hormonal changes: Tear production naturally reduces with age.
  • Environment and lifestyle: Air conditioning, screen use, or contact lenses can all contribute.

Dry Eye is not just uncomfortable — if left untreated, it can affect vision and quality of life. At RevitalEyes Aesthetics, we use hospital-grade diagnostics and regenerative therapies to find the cause of your symptoms and create a personalised treatment plan, so your eyes feel refreshed, comfortable, and protected.

Consultation

At RevitalEyes Aesthetics, our 60-minute Dry Eye Consultation is a detailed and personalised assessment designed to uncover the root causes of your eye discomfort. We use hospital-grade diagnostic technology to provide a complete picture of your ocular surface health. This includes a full examination with our dedicated Dry Eye Analyser, which measures tear quality, stability, and blink function, and meibography to assess the health of the oil-producing meibomian glands. We also utilise the advanced Observ 520x skin analyser, which gives unique insight into periocular skin health by highlighting hidden inflammation, pigmentation changes, bacterial load, and hydration levels around the eyes — factors that can all impact Dry Eye. Diagnostic dye testing with fluorescein and lissamine green is performed to reveal microscopic stress on the cornea and conjunctiva that standard eye exams often miss. By combining these advanced tools with a comprehensive eye health evaluation, we are able to identify whether your symptoms are caused by gland dysfunction, inflammation, eyelid disease, environmental triggers, or a combination of these. This depth of understanding allows us to design a tailored treatment plan — whether that involves energy-based therapies, targeted medical care, or regenerative options — to achieve long-lasting comfort and healthier eyes.

What's Involved

Meibography
High-resolution imaging of the meibomian glands — the tiny oil glands in your eyelids that produce the lipid layer of your tears. This helps us detect blockages or gland loss that commonly drive evaporative dry eye and eyelid disease.

AI-Powered Dry Eye Analyser
State-of-the-art technology that measures your tear film stability, blink pattern, tear break-up time, and ocular surface health. This gives us an objective, measurable baseline of your dry eye severity and allows us to track improvements over time.

Observ 520x Skin & Ocular Surface Analyser
An advanced diagnostic camera that reveals hidden inflammation, pigmentation, bacterial load, and hydration levels around the eyes and eyelids. These subtle changes, often invisible in routine exams, can be key drivers of dry eye symptoms.

Diagnostic Dyes: Fluorescein & Lissamine Green

  • Fluorescein highlights areas of tear film instability and even the tiniest areas of corneal surface damage.
  • Lissamine Green detects stressed or unhealthy cells on the conjunctiva, revealing early disease not visible to the naked eye.

Comprehensive Eye Health Evaluation

A detailed clinical assessment to check for:

  • Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD)
  • Demodex eyelid mites
  • Eyelid inflammation and blepharitis
  • Tear film instability and ocular surface health
We also assess lifestyle and environmental contributors such as eyelash debris, makeup sensitivity, and inflammatory eyelid conditions.

Tailored Treatment Discussion

Based on your results, we’ll explore options such as:

  • Envision dry eye treatment for MGD and periocular rejuvenation
  • Medical therapies for blepharitis and chalazion management
  • Punctal plug therapy to improve tear retention
  • Specialist eye polynucleotide procedure to enhance periocular skin texture and hydration while supporting ocular health

Advanced Light & Radiofrequency Therapy for Dry Eyes

Forma-i

Forma-I is used in the periorbital area and eyelids and relieves inflammation of meibomian glands and eye irritation to treat the symptoms of dry eye disease caused by Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD)

Lumecca-i

Lumecca IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) is a breakthrough treatment that uses gentle pulses of light to target the root causes of Dry Eye. Many cases of Dry Eye are linked to meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD) and eyelid inflammation. By applying precise bursts of light to the skin around the eyes, Lumecca:

  • Reduces abnormal blood vessels that trigger eyelid inflammation
  • Improves the function of the meibomian glands, restoring a healthier tear film
  • Relieves symptoms such as burning, redness, watery eyes, and irritation

The treatment is quick, safe, and non-invasive — with the added benefit of rejuvenating the periocular skin, reducing redness, uneven tone, and fine vessels.
